Composite product option for all product types, instead of composite product being a new type
Composite products currently introduces a new product type - composite product. This is not an actual product but a 'wrapper' for other products. So the store now contains virtual products. This is not compatible with other shopping systems that it may need to integrate with such as google shopping. A composite product isn't actually a product, it's a marketing strategy. So this way of packaging products should be added to all existing products instead of introducing a new phantom product type. It's currently impossible to sell a composite product that has variations, you can only add a variable product as a component. Example: the store owner sells tennis rackets as composite products. He starts with a composite product called Wilson XYZ racket consisting of racket, strings and cover. Fine and dandy but a customer clicks through to the store having searched for Wilson XYZ racket. He is not offered the composite kit, only the racket, because the composite is a non-existent product and can't be added to external systems. Better if the racket were a composite product so then he also sees the option to add strings and a cover. But the racket cannot be a composite product because it comes in a range with different grips sizes and colours giving 12 combinations in all. So currently 12 composite products need to be created.
