Storefront

How can we improve Storefront?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. New widget area above product categories for product filters

With the increasing use of mobile devices i create websites/shops without a sidebar these days. So most widgets, if not all, will not be usuable.
Because of that i cannot use these super widgets like "Filter product on price" (that displays a price slider).

So my proposed new feature is to create a new widget area that will only display on product categories where widgets can be added!

  2. Make popup links available at the sidebar

A viriable product with lots of options is for sale at my website. I would like popup links in my sidebar with names of all the variable options. So when a customer wants to know more about an option, he clicks on that option at the sidebar, a popup will enter his screen, filled with pictures and information about that product option.

  3. Make product categories sidebar widget just a feature of the store page, not a widget.

In order to have Product Categories sidebar widget show on the shop/store page, and ONLY on that page, you must instead hide on ALL other pages (if you have 25 pages, you need to hide on those 25 pages).

Basically you must do this https://snag.gy/Zr59zx.jpg
When it should work like this https://snag.gy/rI1wGV.jpg

In my opinion the product categories sidebar widget shouldn't even be a widget. It should be a feature of the shop/store page and be displayed or hidden via a checkbox in the customizer under WooCommerce > Product Categories Display.
This makes the most sense since product categories, shown…

  5. Make text blocks' color backgrounds extend to full-width.

This is so simple, yet will make color background blocks beautiful and powerful on the page.

Gutenberg already has this function, and so do most themes. Storefront will benefit greatly from this update.

  6. Change product archive image on hover

When on the product archive page, it would be great to have the option to change the product thumbnail image to the secondary one when hovering over it. For example the front and back of a t shirt.

  7. typekit support

Add Typekit support to Storefront either in the theme itself or with the Powerpack plugin.

  9. WooCommerce Payment Methods widget

We should be able to let users know which avaliable methods are available. Something similar like

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-payment-methods/

but this plugin is outdated and breaks checkout page.
I'm only asking for a widget. Many thanks!!

  10. Make the sale element located where it should be located :)

The sale element on categories/listing is located below the Product Title, this is insanity... why would we want to waste that whole row area pushing things down, when its extremely common for that "highlighted" element, to be located in a top corner of the product image, some things are common and standard for a reason, it really is the most functional as well as aesthetically pleasing... I understand when themes like this are meant to "make your own" but when you're making low experienced DIY'ers adjust things that should not need adjustments its really annoying.. thats like making us add…

  11. Show picked attribute on homepage

I am running a book store and I would like to show author on homepage. So I was thinking that selecting attributes to show on homepage might be a great way how to solve this.

  12. Dropdown options in main nav in mobile

Currently I see that product categories get pushed to the very bottom of the page and is really inaccessible in mobile. It'd be great to have the option of adding a drop down to the "shop" button of the main nav

  15. Build / Sell Storefront based *parent* themes

Doing customisation work on Storefront based child themes, purchased from Woo, is painful, as the themes are sold are child themes.

You are smart guys, you have build systems in place; why not use them to build and sell parent themes, incorporating Storefront base functionality, plus paid theme customisations? Automated builds when Storefront is updated can't be that hard...

As it stands, updates to Storefront, with paired child theme updates, will erase all customisations made. Use of the theme-customisation plugin is useful only for basic customisations (css overrides, functions.php, top level templates). Anything more involved will be lost on theme…

  18. HEADER COLOR, SIZE, MORE CUSTOMIZABLE PLEASE

  19. Really, really PowerPack!

So i bought SF PowerPack (Bundle) - the bundle is ok, I mean value per products. But the PowerPack/Designer isnt so powerfull.
    1. It need deeper CSS styling, not only headings and main elements - deeper as possible.
    2. Show/Hide elements of the shop is fine but let face it - it can be done via CSS for everyone. But moving elements will be great - like page-builder.
    3. Ok You can change the footer credits but what about aligning to center (inconsistency)
    4. Ok You can hide tabs but what about description - it dissapear.
