This is exactly what I need right now. Doesn't appear to be such a hot idea at the moment. Would be great if the documentation had something for developers to extend it. Will have to do some digging.

"cancel specific renewals but not the subscription"

This would be a skipping ability not cancel. This will soon be possible with an extension I'm currently developing.

"update shipping address for specific upcoming renewal"

I don't think this would be possible as the renewals copy the initial order of the subscription which contains the shipping address.

"change or easily add options from one renewal to another"

        Could you give some examples?

"manually change the next renewal date"

This would not work for synchronized subscriptions and would override the whole point of being billed each time based on the billing period and interval. Doable but not practical.

The only way I see this working is that the customer has to actually pay the fee via the checkout before the subscription is actually cancelled. You would not be able to do an automated payment.

          What are your thoughts?

You you could ask Prospress if this is optional in their Subscription Gift extension.

I'm experimenting on this. If it works I will let you guys know.

I think this would better if a custom registration form would apply the free trail without the need of WooCommerce at all.

So you would have a page where the customer signs up, preferably with a new user role so it's not confusing between your current customers and then apply the amount of days that customer can try your product/service and when the trail is over, send them an email that provides a link to add the product/service to the cart automatically and redirect straight to checkout page where they can fill out their card details and pay.

Once that user has paid, their user role changes to customer.

Could be done as a mini extension. What do you think?
