Add "request shipping quote" as a shipping option
We are an art gallery and frame shop so some of our items (hardware) are easy to categorize for flat rate shipping but our art is not. Each piece is vastly different and requires special packing on top of shipping.
I know there is a dynamic shipping extension but the $150 yearly subscription is a bit steep for the frequency of our online art sales. I am trying to find a good solution that allows us to pick and choose which items can go through check out with shipping calculated automatically and and which items are held in checkout for us to manually enter a shipping cost.
Any advice on how to achieve this is appreciated!

I tested the Contact for Shipping Quote plugin.
On the quote request admin page, the product is not showing variation descriptions. So let say if a customer put in the cart a T-Shirt with Variation A and another T-Shirt with variation B, who ever is providing the shipping quote will just see "T-Shirt x1, T-Shirt x1" without any indication for the variation. I have asked the developer if he could enable the variation description. He said sometime in the future.

Hi, I checked back to this thread and noticed a handful of updates. Have found this option and just about to purchase. No reviews, so I was wondering if anyone else has used it???
Here's what I'm using and it's working pretty well:
I'm looking for something similar. Did anyone find a solution? I found this Woocommerce plugin does anyone have any experience with it? It looks like it might work.
I tried hard to find the solution, until I learned about this request.
There are different products in my shop that need different shipping rates based on the size and the weight as well as on the package itself (amount and weight of padding and the box itself).
Hi, did you find a solution ? I'm looking for the same features.
This would be great. We're looking for the following...
I have a woo site with extensive custom shipping logic. I'm looking to simplify things... The end goal would be to do this logic...
1. If a cart contains a product with a shipping class "freight"
2a. notify the customer
2b. change the place order to "request a quote"
3a. shop managers receive quote
3b. shop managers calculate custom shipping
3c. shop manager sends quote back to customer with accurate shipping costs to complete the order
4. customer places order.
Is this possible? Any ideas?

This option would be fantastic for us. We sell large decorative screens with lots of shipping issues, so very difficult to specify one size fits all. Request a quote would be awesome.
I am also needing a Request for Shipping Quote option for specific products. Will it be added anytime soon?

We need the same ability so we can provide shipping from the printer who creates our books to authors and bookstores while providing a discount.
