Pre-orders / Pre-purchase
Would be nice if there was a general way to flag products as pre-orders. That would cause downloads to not be available until the product is released.

We have now released WooCommerce Pre-Orders here: http://www.woothemes.com/products/woocommerce-pre-orders/

Hi Guys,
Please check the working Pre orders with the normal orders. I made a solution for it.

$199 for a single site license purchase ...Really!?
I'm becoming concerned with the price of these plugins I mean fair enough Woocommerce is free but this cant be overly complicated code. Assuming your site has half a dozen plugins it soon adds up. Especially since this is only licensed for the year.
Im sorry but Im going to have to look else where for plugins.

Needs a feature to allow you to charge a deposit (dollar amount or percentage of total)

I'm working on building a new site that relies heavily on pre-orders. I just realized that an order can only consist of a single pre-order at a time. I want the customer to pre-order multiple items and the current functionality completely discourages that behavior, not to mention the problems it creates for combined shipping. We really need to be able to have multiple pre-order items in a single order.

Would really like to be able to checkout with multiple item. Our store is all pre-order items.

Did you find a solution? I have exactly the same problem: I bought the plugin Pre Order on WooTheme store, but you can order one product at a time. So if my client want the product in black AND white, it must pass two times at checkout.
I understand that the cart can not manage orders and preorders at the same time, but I do not see why in "pre-command mode" you can only add one product.
Can anyone help me find a solution? Half of my shop is scheduled to be pre-ordered so I'm stuck! -

Improve Pre-Orders as the current version only allows 1 pre-order item in cart at all times. Thus we're not able to add normal items nor multiple pre-order items.
This makes it harder for customers to purchase from us, who are mainly carrying items via pre-order.
Better to improve it by letting everyone able to pre-order any amount of items they need and have a cart of various pre-order and normal products.
Quite urgent as we can't keep stocks of the full product range, but only those we know can move =)
Thanks!

We've never had trouble getting support from IgniteWoo - always get a prompt response.
Anyway, how's the WooTheme's Pre-Order plugin - anyone used it? We'd like to buy a copy but would appreciate a brief comment or 2 first. Anyone?

I tried Ignite Woo plugin, it was filled with errors. Their javascript broke products section in admin panel, if you don't have their updater plugin then preorder plugin will just trough bunch of nonsense errors at you and you won't be able to use it or activate it until you install their updater plugin, they have some amateur programmers that hard link images on localhost.
On top of that they are not responding to support requests from people that bought their most expensive "99sites" licence.

Excellent, I would love to have this option too!

@Anonymous: I emailed IgniteWoo first and got a response same day, then called the next day at 9pm CST (after I got off work) and someone there answered the phone, and answered all my questions.
So.... why are you posting anonymously? I find your comment suspicious at best.

Has anyone tried the Ignite Woo plugin? I sent them an email and got no response. I then called and the rep. couldnt give me any feedback, demo or anything.

I could have sworn I saw one over on ThemeForest but I can't find it now. While prerusing Google looking for options I noticed that there's one now available at IgniteWoo, but I haven't used it --- still waiting on my customer to give the thumb's up on implementing this feature in their store.

It seems this issue has still not been added unfortunately. The setting of backorders was a pretty good start but I actually have a downloadable product. If I set the product as a backorder the email confirmation still includes the download link (as I expected it would).
So now I will need to find a way to send an email to say something along the lines of 'Thanks for your pre-order, you will be notified whne the product is release'.
Then once the product goes live, the main standard email with download link will be sent to the user.
Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Yeah, that would be nice.

I needed this option as well and got around it by using the plugin "WooCommerce Custom Status". I added a "Pre-Ordered" option as a status and simply added to the product attributes a "Pre-Order" option. You can leave the cost as $0.00 or add a deposit style amount.
The customer received an automated email when you change the status to "Pre-Ordered" and then when the product arrives you can filter out any orders in that status and complete them.
Hope this helps some of you out.
