Coupons - Fix or improve 'Limit usage to X items' function
A good idea might be to add the ability to choose if the coupon is applied to the lowest valued item, the highest valued, a certain category, first/last added item etc. Just the ability to discount a single item in the cart that matches the criteria with a coupon code.
Yes. The feature is incomplete, at best. I know it might make it more complicated to fill out, but there's definitely a need to limit the amount "per product" that the coupon can be applied to. That is, in my case, I have a few products out of the many [edibles] that I have, that are about to expire. I want to promote a 50% off on just those products. However, I have variable amounts of them in stock (expiring products) and i want to calibrate the "limit to X items" feature to allow me to do exactly that: program just the exact number of expiring products and not a single item more. Right now, I am forced to apply the same "x number of items" to the entire lot. Not practical.
I agree. It certainly needs fixing, or clarifying how it works.
Definitely. Currently the "limit usage to x items" function works so that the coupon is applied to only one of a specific product, but if there are multiple products in the cart that fit the criteria it will apply the coupon once to each of them, which is not at all what I want! I want to limit the coupon to one item PERIOD. And obviously it would be helpful (necessary, really) to apply some logic to which single item in the cart the coupon would be applied to.
